VSNL has acquired Tata Power Company's (TPC) broadband unit, Tata Power Broad Band (TPBB), for Rs 2.39 billion. The acquisition will make TPBB a wholly owned subsidiary of VSNL. TPBB, which was a wholly owned subsidiary of TPC prior to the buy, had invested in creating a 400 km long optic fibre network in Mumbai and Pune. It offers broadband services to telecom companies and bulk users of bandwidth.
